---

I have worked as a software developer, consultant, and freelance website developer across a mix of web, database, desktop, and systems-adjacent projects.

From around 2007 into the early 2010s I did freelance website development, mostly using Drupal. Earlier work included Visual C++, COM, MFC, Delphi, Visual Basic, SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase SQL Anywhere, and curriculum-management systems.

## Selected experience

Built and maintained websites for small clients, mostly using Drupal as the underlying framework (roughly 2007–early 2010s).

### Programmer, PLATO Learning (2001–2006)

Worked on a web-based curriculum management system.

- Ported data-tier code from Borland Paradox to MS SQL Server 2000
- Maintained, refactored, and enhanced the data tier
- Created and maintained test utilities
- Converted source control from Microsoft SourceSafe to CVS
- Added automatic metrics gathering to the development process

### Contract Programmer, Digital River (2000)

Maintained and enhanced an Internet utility written in plain C and C++ with Visual C++.

### Contract Programmer, Profit Solutions (2000)

### Contract Programmer, Laser Data Command (1998–1999)

Co-designed and implemented an airline security kiosk for passenger check-in, baggage, and boarding. The kiosk used Visual Basic for the UI and ATL COM objects for hardware interaction, including barcode scanners, barcode printers, and video capture.

### Consultant, Connect, Inc. (1997–1998)

Maintained a sales-force automation tool for a major HVAC supplier and helped maintain a ductwork analysis and design program.

Designed mainframe data-access and low-level business COM objects for an insurance sales system using Visual C++, Visual Basic, and IBM CICS.

### Consultant, Analysts International Corp. (1995–1997)

Worked on reusable print-engine components, quotation modules, administration modules, and report generation tools for sales-force automation and educational software systems.

### Contract Programmer, National Biosciences (1994)

Implemented printing, file I/O, and analysis functionality for a DNA analysis program using Borland C++.

### Contract Tester, Ideal Learning (1993–1994)
